Audi is sponsoring the 66th rendition of the Emmy Awards that will be aired next Monday night live on NBC.
To promote their sponsorship of the event, the German automaker produced the following “Barely Legal Pawn” spot featuring Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, Veep actress Julie Louis-Dreyfus and one of Audi’s newest editions.
Needing money after buying her own private island in an attempt to keep up with the Joneses, Julie Louis-Dreyfus, playing herself, goes to the Barely Legal Pawn Shop. Louis-Dreyfus tries to pawn/sell her Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for a Comedy Series won in 1996 for her role as Elaine Benes on Seinfeld.
Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul team up as Buzz Jackson and Randy Jackson, the owners of Barely Legal Pawn. Louis-Dreyfus brings her Emmy in where she and the award are looked over by the Jackson boys.
Ultimately, Julie Louis-Dreyfus decides not to pawn the Emmy (of which she has won four in her career, including back-to-back Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series as Veep’s Selina Meyers the last two years).
But when she returns to the 2015 Audi S3 that’s featured prominently in the promo, JLD has forgotten her car keys and returns to find the Jackson boys partaking in a bit of illegal activity that may look quite familiar to Breaking Bad fans.
Check out what Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul are up to and what they do to Julia Louis-Dreyfus when she stumbles in on their activities:
